Inspired by Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers,” Victoria Capozzi (23 and a pharmacist) and Jack Barker (24 and an occupational therapist) pulled off a fun, spring-inspired wedding with lots of personality. Wanting to draw on the local community as much as possible, the couple started by choosing Benton Grove as the spot to host their nuptials. The three-story “bed and banquet” offered plenty of places to hold the various wedding events, breathtaking mountain views and an intimate, homey vibe. They kicked off the day with an outdoor ceremony in the back of the house overlooking acres of lush greenery and the hills of West Virginia, followed by a reception in Benton Grove’s open-air pavilion. Tori and Jack chose a bright, cheerful color palette to highlight the mood of the occasion, as well as the spring season. Taking the rustic and wild inspiration of the wedding to heart, Blooms Florist got to work designing the perfect centerpieces for the reception — arrangements of ivory hydrangeas, garden roses, viburnum, peach and pink ranunculuses, variegated greenery, curly willow and moss-covered branches. Paired with chartreuse burlap table runners, the flowers brought the open-air pavilion to life. To give the day that extra special touch, Tori and Jack took on a number of DIY projects in the months leading up to the wedding and personalized traditional details wherever possible. Some of the standout details (of which there were many) included table numbers named after the couple’s favorite places, Jack’s best man performing all of the ceremony’s music, Tori’s hand-lettered signs, personalized vows and a globe and Polaroid guest book. Tips for the taking from Tori: “Utilize local businesses who value your personal opinion and satisfaction. Don't settle and take time for the details. DIY as much you can to save money, but realize you can't do everything and Etsy probably has it if you can't make it! Taste your food and ask your friends what they would enjoy eating and drinking to help plan your menu. A smaller bridal party means more intimate time together. If you have a friend who loves weddings, ask her to be your day of coordinator — it’s not only cheaper, but she also gets enjoyment out of helping! Do what you want — it's your day. You are becoming one and that's what matters most. And also take a piece of cake with you for a late night snack after the wedding! Trust me, you’ll be thankful you did later!”

It was important to Tori and Jack to support as many small, local businesses as possible in the planning of their wedding. Not only was Benton Grove close to their hometown, it offered plenty of space to host their ceremony and reception, as well as an intimate, homey feel that fit their vision perfectly.

To maintain a level of intimacy for their ceremony, Tori and Jack asked gets to “go offline.” Guests were asked to refrain from using cell phones, as well as taking pictures until the reception. This allowed the focus to remain on the importance of the event without any distractions.
While Tori and Jack decided to keep the ceremony décor low-key in order to let the importance of the occasion, as well as the breathtaking natural landscape take center stage, a few subtle, decorative details were added to dress things up. From the gazebo, under which they exchanged vows, Tori and Jack hung garlands of white orchids and lanterns to introduce a whimsical note to the ceremony space.

The centerpieces perfectly reflected Tori and Jack’s vision. Ivory hydrangeas, bright pink and peach ranunculuses, lots of greenery and moss-covered branches captured the essence of spring and added a fresh, natural touch to each of the reception tables. Birch bark vases took the look to the next level and introduced a rustic note to the décor.

Inspired by Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers,” Tori’s favorite song, the couple decided to base their wedding’s design around the laid-back, natural and intimate feeling that the song evokes. Classic rustic elements like burlap table runners and Mason jars were given a fun twist, with bright chartreuse hues and hand-drawn details.

From the get go, Tori knew she wanted a dress by Enzoani. After trying on six dresses at her appointment at the bridal salon, she spotted the perfect one — Enzoani’s Fairyland dress. The dress had a fit-and-flare silhouette, strapless neckline, draped bodice and airy lace and organza skirt that gave the dress an ethereal quality.
Playing off the wedding’s chartreuse and coral color palette, Tori decided to dress her bridesmaids in matching chartreuse gowns by Bari Jay. The floor-length chiffon gowns had a crisscrossed bodice, column pleating at the front and fabric flowers along the straps, giving the girls a whimsical appearance. “I loved them so much that I wish I had one for myself!” says Tori.
The bridesmaids carried smaller, brighter versions of Tori’s own. Each filled with garden roses, ranunculuses and hydrangeas in shades of peach, pink, ivory and green, complementing the cheerful color of their dresses. Variegated greenery and wispy willow branches introduced a whimsical note to the bouquet.

Wispy willow branches and sprigs of eucalyptus introduced a whimsical quality to Tori’s romantic bridal bouquet. Succulents added an additional layer of texture and depth, while yellow hypericum berries and ivory roses, ranunculuses and peonies kept the bouquet feeling classic and elegant. To give the day a cohesive look, the same flowers were found in all of the centerpieces as well, with a few additional pops of color.

Jack’s best man Jared played all of the music for the ceremony on his acoustic guitar. All of the songs were chosen by Tori and Jack and included “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz and “Marry Me” by Train while guests were arriving, “Heavenly Day” by Patty Griffin for the processional, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri for the bridal march and “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty for the recessional, Tori’s favorite song.
