A Southern Inspired Wedding at the White Room in St. Augustine, Florida
Shandy Williams, a student, 24, and Trey Thompson, a student, 24, had a southern inspired wedding with an interesting back story. It took two years apart, one romantic night of reggae music and three proposals (two for marriage and one for a relationship) to bring the couple together. Shandy said yes on Trey's second engagement proposal while they were on vacation in Cancun. He gave her a custom round cut diamond ring. The theme for their wedding was "southern rustic" with navy, gray and yellow as their wedding colors. The ceremony was decorated with yellow flower petals that lined a custom "T" burlap aisle runner. As the couple had family and friends come from around the world to witness their wedding, a globe served as their guestbook. Their reception was decorated with blue linens, cherrywood chiavari chairs and two options for centerpieces. Some were wood based floral arrangements of white hydrangeas and yellow roses while others had blue lanterns surrounded by flowers. "Our food was fabulous and very southern," says Shandy. Shandy and Trey served their guests prime rib, balsamic green beans and roasted red potatoes for the main course. A shrimp-n-grits martini bar was also available. Guests were then given the choice of key lime pie, pineapple and coconut or raspberry white chocolate cupcakes for dessert. Their favors had a personal touch. "Since we met camping we went with a mason jar full of s’more mix," says Shandy.
