A Southern Chic Wedding at Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

Exchanging vows in a place that was near and dear to their hearts was so important to Sarah Taylor (27 and a lawyer) and Rob Cassidy (29 and a tennis professional), and Wachesaw Plantation Club in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, was it. The couple often vacation in Litchfield Beach and many of their big moments were there—where they first said "I love you" and where he proposed—so it made sense to keep making memories near the South Carolina town. “I remember the first time I took Rob to Wachesaw Plantation. We just sat in Adirondack chairs looking over the water for at least an hour,” Sarah says. “Something about the ceremony site calmed us.” With the help of event planner Meagan Warren from Meagan Warren Weddings, the couple adorned the historic plantation with candlelight, mahogany and a neutral palette to bring their Southern-chic theme to life. Since Sarah was a wedding planner before she went to law school, she had a hand in all the decisions for the day. “Both of my grandmothers and my mother taught me the importance of less is more,” Sarah says. “They all influenced me to try and be simple yet elegant, and I tried to incorporate that feeling with all aspects of the wedding.” We love the ultra-local, super-personal touches, including the fried chicken and barbecue dinner (with a macaroni and cheese bar, of course) as well as the RC Cola favors in honor of Rob’s nickname (and initials). There are so many details we love—see them all, beautifully captured by Riverland Studios, below.
