To complement the bay backdrop, Casey Gillece (32 and a lawyer) and Griffin Gordon (32 and an operational executive) stuck to a neutral color scheme, white floral arrangements, natural table linens and, for a hint of elegance, a dramatic chandelier. “We wanted something that we could look back on and still love,” Casey says of striving for a timeless aesthetic.

Looking for a venue close to home that still felt like a destination, the pair opted for a waterfront affair at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. “We wanted to focus on the amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay behind us,” Casey says of foregoing an elaborate backdrop.

Friends kept cool in the summer heat thanks to paper fans.

“I love the organic way it came together,” Casey says of letting her bridesmaids choose their own long dresses.

During the reception with a live band, guests snacked on crab cakes and a spread of desserts, including the couple’s buttercream cake, and took home crab-shaped cookies made by Casey’s family friend as a late-night treat. “Take time to soak it all in,” Casey says of enjoying the day.
