A Sophisticated Vintage-Inspired Wedding at Greysolon Ballroom in Duluth, Minnesota

Taylor (26 and a website consultant) and Jesse (28 and an accountant) were coworkers at Younker's Department Store, where Taylor was a receptionist in the salon and Jesse worked next door in the shoe department. At the time, Jesse had long curly hair, but when he came into work one day with a new short haircut, Taylor took notice. They had a casual first date watching a Twin's Game on TV and the rest was history! Around Christmastime over five years later, Jesse picked Taylor up from a day of shopping with her mom and brought her home to an early Christmas present. He made her close her eyes as he gave her a decorative wine cork and let her into the dining room for a bottle of wine. The room was strewn with tea candles, and a large banner on the wall asked Taylor to marry him. Taylor had always known she wanted to get married at the Greysolon Ballroom, a place where she had attended many dances and events through the years, in Duluth, Minnesota. "I have always loved the chandeliers and the carvings and designs on the walls," she says. Their sophisticated celebration had somewhat of a vintage aesthetic with the opulent 1920s-style ballroom and a 50-year-old cake topper passed down from Taylor's grandparents. For an unconventional but elegant touch, Taylor dressed her bridesmaids in champagne-colored dresses that matched the silhouette of her own gown. Taylor and Jesse also incorporated a subtle theme of pineapples (a symbol of hospitality) into their invitation suite, floral arrangements, and desserts.
