A Sophisticated Outdoor Wedding at Camp Waldemar in Kerrville, Texas

The day was kept clean, classic and sophisticated with a palette of black, gray and white for Martin Twiss (25 and owner of Frances Martin Calligraphy) and Scott Hargrove( 26 and a petroleum landman).Though Martin grew up admiring her parents’ all-white wedding, she thought that hints of black and gray would be more appropriate for the season. Her florists worked with the lush natural backdrop—the summer camp on the Guadalupe River that Martin attended as a child—to incorporate lots of greenery and loose white blooms.Martin says it had “always been a dream” to get married at her former summer camp. When it came time to exchange rings, the best man stumbled and suddenly they went flying. “I know! I had one job!” he panicked, as the crowd laughed. Though the rings were quickly recovered, Martin happily says that, “Pictures of this moment are by far our favorite from the entire weekend.”Groomsmen sported bright Guatemalan-inspired suspenders as a pop of color.Martin owns a small calligraphy business, so she took pride in the stationery details, like a black wax seal with the letter “H” used for the menus and place cards. During cocktail hour, guests were treated to fabulous hors d’oeuvres and a beautiful view of the river while soft string music played.
