A Sophisticated, Organic Wedding in Londonderry, Vermont

Sarah Markowitz and Nick Andlinger looked to bountiful bouquets of wildflowers and a color palette of green, white and blue to infuse their summer nuptials with the essence of Vermont’s natural beauty.

For the ceremony, Sarah and Nick gathered their guests outdoors, where they were treated to mountain views and blue skies while the couple exchanged vows. Nick’s aunt officiated, lending an extra-personal touch to the celebration. “Having her up there with us made us feel safe and not at all nervous,” Sarah says. Large terra-cotta pots brimming with leafy green plants encircled the ceremony site, and an ornate, garden-inspired arch framed the end of the aisle.

It was the reception where Sarah and Nick’s vision truly came to life. Cascading vines hung from the ceiling of the sailcloth tent, suspended over long wood farm tables that made guests feel as though they’d just sat down to an intimate family dinner. White linen table runners gave way to textured arrangements of wildflowers and greenery and brass candlesticks bearing glowing taper candles. Etched green water glasses pulled the tablescapes together, adding a playful pop of color to the décor and a subtle hint of vintage flair.

“My favorite part of the wedding was our first dance,” Sarah says. “We had it timed so fireworks were still going on, so it was a moment just for the two of us.”

In addition to fireworks, the couple surprised guests with a performance by Nick’s uncle, the musician behind the infamous song “867-5309/Jenny.”
