A Sophisticated, Elegant Wedding at Cuvier Club in La Jolla, California

With a range of metallics and some flashy decor, Doris Dunkel (32 and an event coordinator) and Felix Goodson (42 and a sports/social executive) created a sophisticated look for their elegant wedding, focused on making friends and family feel like VIP (red carpet included). Doris and Felix used their hospitality backgrounds to spoil their guests, from the chilled wine awaiting their arrival at the ceremony to the table runners printed with black-and-white photographic memories. Their nuptials took place at Cuvier Club in La Jolla, California, where they fell in love with the surrounding outdoor bougainvillea and elegant indoor space. The large group of bridesmaids wore gold metallic dresses, while the groomsmen matched Felix and sported classic black tuxedos with bow ties to match. After the outdoor ceremony, the party moved to the large reception hall, where gold orbs and string lights dangled from the ceiling. Guests found their seats by locating oversize art deco numbers on dining tables, poking out from square flower arrangements. Don't even get us started on the gold-and-black-layered cake, topped with gold birds. But we thought the sweetheart table stole the show, with bright letters that spelled "Celebrate Love." "Looking through all the old photos and sharing the memories with each other was a highlight of our wedding-planning experience," Doris says. "The goal was to make guests feel like they were VIP, because each guest was."
