A Sophisticated Dual Hindu and Civil Wedding at Greenhouse Loft in Chicago, Illinois
Neil (27 and a product manager at Uber) and Catherine (29 and a marketing manager at Groupon) lived two buildings away from one another when they lived in Chicago, but they didn't meet until a year later during a summer festival. Both Catherine and Neil were hosting parties when they were introduced through mutual friends. After two dates, Neil went on a work trip to Zurich, Switzerland for six weeks and invited Catherine to come visit him for a third date. They dated for four years after that when Neil had a health scare and had to have major surgery that instantly made the couple closer. Knowing Catherine was the woman he wanted by his side the rest of his life, Neil proposed in Chicago's Oz Park, and together they celebrated with dinner in the city with their closest family members. Although they moved to San Francisco, Neil and Catherine wanted to get married in Chicago to be closer to home and better accommodate their guests. They needed to find the perfect ceremony to accommodate their dual Hindu and civil ceremonies, and discovered Greenhouse loft, which only had one date available--coincidentally, the same as the auspicious date they set (a date for Hindu weddings based in the couples birthdays and birth times). With the date and venue set, Catherine and Neil went ahead with their dual wedding, first with the traditional Hindu wedding and then the civil garden wedding, to join their heritages with active participation from family members in both planning and orchestrating the celebration.
