Samantha Gettel (28 and a supply planner) and Jonathan Klobucar’s (29 and a lead software developer) art deco–inspired accents, snow-white blooms and lustrous palette of emerald, gold and silver emphasized one of Detroit’s most treasured mainstays.

Samantha accessorized her tulle ball gown with a pair of custom, royal-blue wedges, while Jonathon wore the tie his grandfather had worn on his own wedding day.

Samantha and Jonathon tied the knot in the museum’s Rivera Court, an interior space lined with famed murals painted by Diego Rivera. “We incorporated handfasting into our ceremony,” Samantha says. “Jonathon and I loved representing our bond in such a symbolic way.”

Treats included a make-your-own mac and cheese bar and a red velvet cake designed to mimic the museum’s grand interior.

In lieu of a traditional cocktail hour, the newlyweds held a gallery hour for guests. “It was a fun way for everyone to enjoy the art and socialize,” Samantha says. “It was important for us to host a unique event that reflected both the city of Detroit and ourselves.”
