A Simple Winter Wedding at the Sugarloaf Ski Resort in Carrabassett Valley, Maine

Erin Vickers (27, an architect) and Graham Vickers (27, an architect) both went to college as architecture majors at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. However, they did not meet until both decided to study abroad in Rome. “Things got off to a rocky start but two years later we rekindled the romance,” says Erin. Exactly four years from their first date, Graham surprised her and proposed while the couple was on a neighborhood walk with their dog, Lola. “As I obliviously mumbled about what a gorgeous day it was, Graham suddenly got down on one knee,” says Erin. “I believe I repeated ‘Is this really happening?’ at least a dozen times and then finally said yes!” Erin and Graham were wed one year later at the Sugarloaf Ski Resort in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. They had a traditional ceremony at the R. H. Bell Chapel in front of 170 friends and family members before moving inside the resort for their cocktail hour and reception. Under a rustic winter theme, the couple decorated their reception with snowflakes, string lighting, candles, and branch centerpieces, says Erin. Flowers, however, were absent from the wedding at her request. The couple ended their celebration with a firework display.
