A Simple White Wedding at Westin Moana Surfrider Waikiki in Koloa, Hawaii

Lucy Angus (30 and a teacher) was selling her car, since she didn’t know how to drive a manual, and Greg Jack (38 and a urologist) desperately needed one since he had just moved from the United States to Melbourne, Australia. After Greg purchased her car and the business transaction was complete, Lucy and Greg continued to stay in touch. Five years later, Greg proposed to Lucy with a Harry Winston ring on the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. The couple chose to have a destination wedding around the same area where they got engaged, not only because of the symbolism it holds to their relationship, but it was halfway between Lucy’s family in Australia and Greg’s home in Pennsylvania. Their traditional wedding ceremony was held at Central Union Church in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the reception was inside Beach House Restaurant located at Westin Moana Surfrider Waikiki in Koloa, Hawaii. The white, yellow, pink and green color palette was inspired by the pastel colors Lucy had seen inside a sorbet/ice cream shop. She created many details for the wedding day, from the cake themed place cards in white coral holders to the white tulle bows decorating the pews. Beach House Restaurant had a large open space for the indoor reception, and long dining tables were decorated with ivory peony and rose centerpieces alongside tiny lanterns. The windows of the restaurant revealed the green water and white sand of the nearby beach waterfront for guests to enjoy throughout the wedding day. “Our wedding was full of close friends and family, sunshine and a lot of love and laughter, which represents us as a couple,” Lucy says.
