A Simple Wedding With an Industrial Twist at Dock580 in Columbus, Ohio
With no wedding party, a cocktail-hour-styled reception, a sit-down meal and a vegan carrot wedding cake, this nontraditional, simple wedding accurately reflected the couple’s personalities and focused on the most important part of the day: their love for each other. “Both of us wanted our wedding to be simple and romantic,” Carly Mihaila (28 and a human-resources manager) says of her marriage to Sean Hukill (29 and a high-school special education teacher). “We wanted the day to be a reflection of us, our relationship and our love for one another.” The wedding took place at Dock580 in Columbus, Ohio, which had an industrial interior with exposed-brick walls, decked out with twinkling lights wrapped around the pillars and strung across the high ceilings, all captured on camera by Derk's Works. The blush and ivory soft color palette was shaped by the peonies, garden roses and hydrangeas that made up the bouquets and decorated the cake, which were arranged by Flowers on Orchard Lane. We noticed the bride's wedding dress really brought out a pop of elegance among the simple, rustic decor—an A-line Tara Keely wedding dress with lace cap sleeves and a tulle skirt that flared out. “Our photographer encouraged us to soak in the moment and take the time to enjoy one another,” Carly says. “When the two of us look back on our wedding day, we are both so grateful for that time when we were able to take a minute and hit 'pause' on our wedding day with one another.”
