A Simple Wedding With a Rustic Twist at a Private Residence in Buellton, California

With grand weeping-willow trees, a large open space and views of the surrounding rolling hills, this private family ranch in Buellton, California, had the natural elements perfect for this couple’s vision of a simple wedding with a rustic twist. “Instead of having a huge wedding, I yearned for a location that was simple and intimate,” Steffany Romacly (24 and respiratory) says of her marriage to Jake Rodriguez (27 and in construction). “We found a ranch that fit my vision of a whimsical, rustic wedding, and we feel at home when we are surrounded by nature.” Little planning was needed for this casual affair with a color palette of gray, navy and yellow mixed with elements of corks, burlap and wood, all captured by Yvonne Goll Photography. Even the attire was as simple as can be, purchased from J.Crew; bridesmaids wore knee-length navy dresses and groomsmen wore gray suits. After the couple were married underneath the large oak tree on the open property, guests made their way to the reception area and were seated at simple, navy dressed dining tables with pops of yellow from napkin linens. Our favorite detail that embodied the rustic theme had to be the escort-card display made with hundreds of wine corks, with accents of burlap around the frame and on top of the board. “Our wedding was not very big because we desired an intimate time of celebration,” Steffany says. “We danced with just about every guest who was there and made time to talk to everyone under the bright stars while surrounded by rolling hills.”
