A Simple Wedding at the Key Largo Lighthouse in Key Largo, Florida
Keri Austin, a stenographer, 26, and Eric Van Auker, a communications coordinator, 27, were wed overlooking the ocean in Key Largo, Florida. The couple chose simple white decor with colorful accents for their wedding to accentuate the venue’s natural backdrop. “We were going for a simple, clean, elegant look,” says Keri. Champagne colored wine bottles filled with white and pink roses lined the aisle as the couple’s 60 guests took their seats in simple white chairs. Keri’s bridesmaids stood out in mint green dresses and held bouquets of white calla lilies. Eric’s groomsmen complemented them with simple white shirts and gray slacks. The couple’s reception decor, flower arrangements and colors were inspired by images the bride found on Pinterest, says Keri. After the cocktail hour, their guests were served either chicken roulade and Mediterranean mahimahi with a selection of roasted garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables and California salad as the sides. Keri and Eric’s intimate reception also had an element that they did not expect. Keri’s Uncle Lonny surprised them and serenaded the group with a special song on his guitar. “We were able to talk with everyone and still enjoy the evening, which was our main goal,” says Keri.
