A Simple Wedding at the Denver Botanic Gardens in Chatfield, Colorado
Mitchell (Mitch) Sig (26, an accountant) would spend time on the same floor as Rachel Ward’s (25, works in medical billing) dorm during their freshman year at the University of Colorado. “I, apparently, had met him at a football game, where he knew I was the one! But, I hardly remember that,” says Rachel. “I later fell in love with his eyes.” The couple started dating that October. After they started their careers and bought a house together, Mitch and Rachel became engaged. Mitch proposed while he and Rachel were on a 12 mile bike ride on the Mineral Belt trail in Leadville, Colorado. “Straddling his bike, he pulled out a beautiful diamond solitaire and proposed,” says Rachel. “My first words were ‘finally’ and then ‘yes.’ They were wed in a gazebo just over a year later at the Denver Botanic Gardens in Chatfield, Colorado. "I had envisioned a beautiful, rustic, barn wedding," says Rachel. Their ceremony was decorated with simple white chairs, sunflowers placed along the aisle. Rachel, Mitch and their 150 guests then moved to the venue’s barn for a reception and cocktail hour. “I personally made all the decorations for the reception,” says Rachel. The space was decorated with custom signs, a “Mr. and Mrs. Sign” Banner, candles and mason jars, with burlap and lace accents.
