A Simple Wedding at Private Residence in Rising Sun, Indiana

Every part of Kasie Short (23 and a registered nurse) and Keith Short’s (26 and a corrections officer) outdoor wedding was filled with personal accents in neutral, coral and turquoise hues – from the blue monogram cookies to their DIY wedding arch. The wedding venue alone, Kasie’s childhood home, was filled with memories. “We spent a lot of time here when we were dating,” says Kasie. “Keith and my dad completed quite a few projects there and tinkered in the garage.” Together, Kasie and Keith built a natural wooden wedding arch accented with white daisies and greenery. As one of their 50 guests has an allergy to flowers, these details were kept to a minimum. Rows of wooden pews at the ceremony were met with coral crocus flowers and wildflowers as Kasie walked back down the aisle with a bouquet of white dahlias and hydrangeas made from burlap! Her wedding dress also stood out against the waterfront setting. The team at Bridal and Formal in Cincinnati, Ohio, helped Kasie find a classic A-line dress with delicate white lace covering the gown and short train. After the couple completed a unity knot tying tradition, they ended their night in a tented reception held directly behind the ceremony space. Meagan White Photo captured every detail as red, white and blue paper lanterns lined the ceiling. Each burlap-accented table was also met with a low arrangement of two pink roses in blue mason jars. “It really was the wedding that we always wanted,” says Kasie. “There was no stress. The atmosphere was relaxed and everyone had a great time, which is all we could have asked for!”
