A Simple Traditional Wedding At Tybee Island Wedding Chapel in Tybee Island, Georgia

It might seem unlikely or odd to meet your future spouse in court, but for Sarah Orr (30 and an attorney) and Jay Haithcock (35 and an attorney) it couldn't have been a more fitting spot. "After law school, I was clerking for a local judge. Jay had a case before the judge I was working for and we met for the first time in the judge's chambers!" says Sarah. Through mututal friends, Jay managed to get her phone number and not long after their first date, the two became inseparable. When Jay decided to pop the question, he took Sarah to their favorite city — Charleston, SC. For their wedding, the couple wanted to keep things simple and elegant, allowing the focus of the day to be on their union and the beautiful setting. Tybee Island was an obvious location for the couple's nuptials. "Jay and I both grew up visiting Tybee Island with our families, and also visited Tybee together when we were dating. It is one of our favorite spots, and we wanted our friends and family to enjoy it as much as we do," says Sarah. With the wedding's location settled, the couple began their hunt for a venue that could comfortably hold their 150 guests and offered spots for both their ceremony and reception. The Tybee Wedding Chapel fit the bill and to top it off, worked seamlessly with the day's understated, timeless theme. The chapel itself needed little decoration, the light filled space boasting cathedral ceilings with exposed wood beams and ornate chandeliers. The couple introduced a few details like ivory bows on the ceremony pews and a few simple floral arrangements to highlight the charming space, rather than detract from it.
