A Simple, Traditional Wedding at Elements Conference and Event Centre in Cincinnati, Ohio

Liz Hook (26 and an administrative assistant) and Matt Voto (23 and a manager) met when their church choir director asked them to assist with his choir practice. The two of them were the youngest people there, so they started up a conversation that led to so much more. Throughout their relationship, Liz always mentioned how cliché she thought giving flowers was. However, she always teased that Matt never got her any! So when the couple was at Matt’s apartment on the closing night of a show Liz was stage-managing, Matt laid a bouquet of flowers down on a table for every special occasion they had together. Following Liz's initial shock of seeing so many flowers, Matt got down on one knee and proposed with Liz’s grandmother’s engagement ring. The couple held their traditional wedding ceremony at the local parish Liz attended when she was growing up. They chose to have their simple, elegant reception at the Elements and Event Conference Center, decorated in the color palette of navy blue and coral. Liz created many of the decorations, such as the tags and packaging for the S’more wedding favors, along with refurbishing old frames for the table assignment chart and welcome sign. “We were best reflected as a couple in the simple and laid back atmosphere of our ceremony and reception,” says Liz. “Our goal was to ensure that everyone had a great time and could celebrate as a family, and we think we accomplished just that!”
