A Simple Tented Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Seven years after Ashley Golden (29 and in communications) and Daniel Cain (32 and a catering manager) met in college, became friends and started dating at a Louisiana State University football game, Daniel popped the question. He surprised Ashley on Thanksgiving Day while she was at the beach with her family. “I immediately started crying thinking the surprise was just him being there with us for vacation, then he got down on one knee and I totally lost it,” says Ashley. “I'm not even sure he asked me a question before I just screamed yes!” With a spring wedding in mind, the couple planned a simple tented celebration at Ashley’s parent’s home in just four months. Friends and family members were greeted with champagne and an open bar as they entered the ceremony site. White folding chairs were adorned with white stock flowers and roses along the aisle, and string lighting and a grand floral chandelier were hung overhead. After Ashley and Daniel said “I do” in front of their DIY moss monogram, their guests moved further inside the tent to white-linen-covered round tables topped with white stock and rose centerpieces. Exposed wood signs, custom burlap pillows and other accents designed by the bride also added a personal touch to their decor. “Having good, unique food was on the top of our list,” says Ashley. The couple had stations like a French fry bar, grilled pizza station and macaroni-and-cheese cupcakes available for guests before all enjoyed a floral-accented three-tier wedding cake baked by Nanette Mayhall. The night ended with Ashley and Daniel taking a festive sparkler exit to "You've Got the Love" by Florence and the Machine as their friends and family cheered in the background.
