A Simple Rustic Wedding at Marsh Landing Restaurant in Fellsmere, Florida

About four years after Tessa Rey (24 and a dental hygienist) and Daniel Rey (30 and a real estate agent) met while working at a local bar, he popped the question on a boat ride along the Wakulla River. “I turned around in a spot where all the trees canopied over the crystal clear river and there he was on one knee in the middle of the boat. It could not have been more perfect and more us,” says Tessa. They spent the next 10 months planning a simple rustic wedding with Heather Horowitz Design. "We always had a Florida-themed wedding in mind. I grew up in the panhandle, we met in Tallahassee and then moved to his hometown, a small citrus beach town,” says Tessa. “Florida means a lot to us.” For their ceremony venue, Tessa and Danny looked near their hometown and found the Historic Old Schoolhouse in Fellsmere, Florida. Wanting to highlight its restored architecture and original wood from 1911, the couple decorated the auditoriums's stage with simple arrangements of local wildflowers. After they exchanged vows, Tessa, Danny and their 55 guests went to Marsh Landing Restaurant in the same city for an intimate reception. Antlers as well as wildflowers in glass bottles lined each family-style table to create a cozy yet rustic atmosphere. Each guest found his or her escort card attached to an orange for a fun twist. The couple spent the night dancing with family and friends to one of their favorite bands, The Nouveaux Honkies band. (Tessa and her mom actually won their performance in a baking competition!) Before Tessa and Danny made a  sparkler exit, they gave each friend and family member a jar of homemade local jam for a personal touch and thank you.
