A Simple, Rustic Wedding at Lift Restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming

Kristin Gangwer (30 and a food hub manager) and Dylan Ward (32 and an assistant professor) met in graduate school at the University of Colorado. After dating for three years, Dylan was offered a faculty position at the University of Cincinnati, and they decided to move to Ohio together. After they signed the paperwork for their new home, Dylan proposed in their front yard. Although they live in the Midwest now, they love the gorgeous western landscapes of Wyoming, and knew they wanted to get married there. They chose Moutlon Barn in Grand Teton National Park for the ceremony and braved the weather. “For our ceremony, we were counting on the fact that the summer weather would be beautiful, as it usually is, but instead we ended up with rain, hail, lightning and mud,” Kristin says. “As we started saying our vows, however, the sun came out. It was one of the most amazing moments of my life, and made the day more memorable than we had ever imagined.” Afterwards they went to Lift Restaurant where they had cocktail hour on the roof and dinner inside. Inspired by that natural Wyoming landscape, they worked with Lily and Co. for the wildflower floral arrangements. They continued their inspiration from the surrounding sky, meadows, wildflowers and mountains into the color palette using shades of green, yellow, gray, brown, black and white throughout the decor. Dylan’s band came from Boulder, Colorado, to play at the reception, and he even got to join them for a few songs.
