A Simple, Romantic Wedding at Champlain Valley Alpaca Farm in Bridport, Vermont

Liz Kyriacou (29 and a government relations professional) and Gabe Sortino (31 and a teacher) both spent their childhood summers on the shores of Lake Champlain in Charlotte, VT and attended the same high school, yet the two did not actually meet until years later when they worked for the same nonprofit organization. Spending lunch breaks together and swapping stories, the two became close friends. After a first date initiated by Gabe and a New Years Eve kiss initiated by Liz, the two became inseparable. Six years later, Gabe suggested the two go to the lake for a sunset picnic, where he popped the question. For their wedding, Liz and Gabe knew that they wanted to find a unique venue that had both an outdoor and indoor space where guests could enjoy the Vermont views. "We stumbled across our venue, an alpaca farm, on Craigslist of all places. It was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for," says Liz. The couple planned a simple, romantic wedding with plenty of fun touches mixed in. A peach, mint and white color palette was chosen for the day, touching everything from the bridesmaids' dresses to the reception's table linens and flowers. Vintage-patterned table squares added depth to the tables, while mason jar vases introduced a rustic touch. "Good food, lots of dancing and laid back fun was what we were going for," says Liz. "Our family and friends are incredibly important to us and the day would have been impossible without their help. They were responsible for everything from the cake, cocktail hour food and wedding rings, to the flowers, handmade decorations and wedding arbor. Gabe's cousin even married us. It was important they they be involved and it made it all the more special knowing how much of a role they played."
