A Simple, Purple Wedding at Santa Barbara Zoo in Santa Barbara, California

Once this animal-loving couple found out they could have giraffes, elephants and other living creatures at their wedding, they sealed the deal at the Santa Barbara Zoo in Santa Barbara, California. “The presence of animals, including the feeding of the giraffes, was greatly representative of us and our love for animals,” Bridget Sullivan (25 and a GIS technician/analyst) says of her marriage to Sam Rome (29 and a writer/researcher). Bycherry Photography captured this simple wedding surrounded by greenery at the zoo that maintained a color palette of purple in different hues, decorating many elements from the strapless bridesmaid dresses to the potted flower centerpieces arranged by Ella & Louie. The outdoor ceremony took place in an open area surrounded by tropical palm trees, with little decorations besides the wedding arch draped in white linens. We loved that Bridget and Sam were not afraid to show their geeky side through incorporating their favorite TV show, "Dr. Who," into much of the wedding-day decor. “Truthfully, every element of the wedding reflected us as a couple, because we didn't see a point in a wedding if it wasn't us in every possible way,” Bridget says. “We wanted to keep our designs elegant and timeless, but with elements incorporating aesthetics of designs seen in ‘Doctor Who.’ ”
