A Simple Outdoor Wedding at Radonich Ranch on the Mountains of Los Gatos, California

This simplistic outdoor wedding with a rustic twist took place up in the mountains, surrounded by natural elements at Radonich Ranch in Los Gatos, California. Gretchen Sturm (26 and in marketing for biotech) and Eric Brune (25 and in high tech) envisioned having a casual wedding where their guests felt comfortable, while maintaining an elegant touch at the same time. The couple achieved this through using a color palette of purples, whites and black combined with wooden detail—from the tea-length bridesmaid dresses to the flower arrangements adorning the wooden wedding arch and cookie favors assorted inside a woven basket for guests to enjoy—all captured on camera by Tony Fitzgerald Photography. With the help of Vignette Events, simple dining tables at the outdoor reception were decorated with wooden boxes filled with arrangements of white roses and purple hydrangeas, tying the elegant and rustic features together. A tower of glass mason jars were used for a choice of drink, and cookies with purple flower designs were given out as wedding favors. Guests enjoyed the wedding cake with white and brown tiers, which was decorated with a beaded pattern at the bottom of each tier and topped with a “Mr. and Mrs.” silver sign. We fell in love with the sight of Gretchen’s traditional Claddagh wedding ring, which depicted two hands holding a heart adorned with diamonds, reflecting their Irish heritage that was also represented through music at their reception. “We wanted to have Celtic classical music playing, and after we explained what we wanted and what exactly Celtic classical music was, our DJ picked the perfect songs,” Gretchen says. “It felt like we had the soundtrack to a movie set in an Irish family pub playing.”
