A Simple Outdoor Wedding at Private Residence in Pasadena, California

With one venue affected by a hurricane and another canceled, and needing to plan their celebration in 10 days, Rachael Bogert (28 and a writer) and Steven Wilmot (28 and a recording engineer) still had a simple red-and-white wedding that was nothing short of lovely. “The theme became whites and lights,” Rachael says. The Argus Image captured every detail, as the day started with an intimate outdoor wedding in their friend's backyard and ended in a dance party under string lighting. Rachael's sister and the rest of the team at 2 Buds Creative designed lush table scapes with white dahlias, hypericum berries, seeded eucalyptus and pink accents in bulb vases for their family-style table. "I gave my sister one specification: I had had a weird dream where my deceased, Italian grandmother, Rose, had told me that I needed to have white roses at my wedding. I listen to dead grandmas in dreams," Rachael says. Her bouquet was filled with a distinctive display of white roses, white dahlias, greenery, scabiosa pods and even white coffee beans. The eye-catching arrangement also complemented her ivory wedding dress. Rachael chose the third dress she tried on, a Rosa Clara wedding dress with delicate beading, sheer cap sleeves and V-neckline. The gown also inspired the vintage bulb vases, mixed vintage china and mismatched silverware for the couple's decor. Rachael shares a tip: “What we got was a wedding that showed us how to be a couple -- or at least taught us a little on how to live our lives together. It showed us that you can plan all you want, but it might not happen. If an expectation is not met, relax. You might be shocked how happy you are with the alternative outcome.”
