A Simple, Natural Wedding at Glendale Lyceum in Cincinnati, Ohio

Instead of planning a specific theme from the start, this couple used their love of art-deco elements combined with a neutral color palette to shape their simple and natural wedding. Lauren Householder (26 and an event planner) and Mark Sjoberg (26 and an executive assistant) held their ceremony at a simple, traditional church and their reception at the Glendale Lyceum, a historic private social club in Cincinnati, Ohio. “We loved the venue so much because it provided such an intimate atmosphere for our reception -- so much more cozy and attractive than the typical event halls we had seen,” Lauren says. Her pastel-colored bouquet was filled with roses, snapdragons and Queen Anne’s lace accented with dusty miller and eucalyptus, while Mark had single ivory rose accented with fern and eucalyptus pinned to his charcoal gray jacket lapel. Guests entered the reception with natural light flowing in through the large windows and were seated at simple dining tables marked with gold-framed numbers. Flower centerpieces were dominated by leafy greens mixed with pink roses, Queen Anne’s lace and pops of burgundy chrysanthemums. We loved that Lauren incorporated the deep affection for her family even into her wedding-day accessories. “On her right finger, she wore her maternal grandmother's engagement ring, and also held a clutch that was her paternal grandmother's, who were both are deceased,” the couple says.
