A Simple Historic Wedding at the Green Gables Estate in San Marcos, California

Ashlee Enriquez (27, a continuous improvement engineer) and Michael Pitt (34, a golf instructor) met each other while waiting in lie to bet on a horse

Ashlee Enriquez (27, a continuous improvement engineer) and Michael Pitt (34, a golf instructor) met each other while waiting in lie to bet on a horse race at the San Diego Del Mar racetrack in California. Although both Ashlee and Michael ended up losing their horse bets, little did they that at the end of the day, they would end up winning each other. They maintained a long-distance relationship from Illinois and California for two and a half years until Michael proposed to Ashlee during one his visits to see her in San Diego. The couple held their wedding at the Green Gables Estate in San Marcos, California, which won them over with its historic schoolhouse located on top of a hill, surrounded by the beautiful landscape that would make for a perfect venue. Lavender was the inspiration behind the decor of the wedding, a color that signified relaxation, romance and elegance to the couple. The purple hue of lavender was complimented with shades of light pink and gray, decorating the centerpieces, dining tables and space at large with the soft color palette. Guests were able to bring a bit of lavender back home with the couple’s choice of wedding favors, which were pouches filled with a lavender sachet and a bracelet that read “Carpe Diem”.

The simple wedding invitations were white, and then tied with a ribbon to send off to guests.

“The flowers were exactly as I had pictured, they were soft and romantic,” says Ashlee. “At the end of the day, all flowers were picked up and donated to a retirement home. This allowed the community to take apart the arrangements and develop smaller arrangements to place throughout the community.”
“As for the favors, we cut lace and created little pouches which were filled with a lavender sachet and a bracelet with our wedding date and "Carpe Diem",” says Ashlee.
“From the family involvement throughout the wedding to the touches throughout the venue, we had numerous personalized touches to show our guests how much we appreciated them,” says Ashlee.
The three-tiered wedding cake had an intricate icing pattern and was accented with flowers. On top of the cake sat a cake topper that spelt out "Love".
