A Simple Fall Wedding at Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina
While Malley Adamsky (28 and a teacher) was chasing her dream of teaching in Charleston, South Carolina, she decided to sign up for Match.com in order to meet a nice southern gentlemen. Instead, she ended up meeting a Midwesterner, Austin Johnson (31 and an air transportation specialist in the Air Force), and they dated until he proposed to Malley during a 26-hour road trip back to Charleston. "We flew out to Kansas and planned on driving his dad back to Charleston with us to move there," says Malley. "So we had the truck loaded to the gills with Austin at the wheel, Dad in the passenger seat and myself in the back, with the dog and drove halfway through before stopping. The next morning, on no sleep, no coffee, and not happy, the car wouldn't start—my mind instantly flipped out! Austin popped the hood and asked me to grab some battery caps from the toolbox. As grumpy as can be, I grabbed the box labeled 'caps' and he asked me to open it. So I did—and then slammed it shut! After Austin took the box and proposed to Malley, the pair began planning their rustic garden wedding at Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina. The bride and her farther walked down the outdoor aisle through a freestanding shabby-chic set of doors. "We didn't need or want a whole lot of decorations at the ceremony—we wanted our guests to enjoy the gardens as beautiful as they were," says Malley. Colorful flowers, inspired by the brides desire for a vibrant color palette, decorated the terrace cocktail hour and indoor reception. Sunflowers were incorporated throughout the arrangement as a nod to the groom's hometown (they're the Kansas state flower!) and deep purple linens warmed the overall d?cor.
