A Simple, Elegant Wedding at a Private Residence in Cottageville, West Virginia
Elisabeth Anne Allen (23 and a nanny) and Nicholas Allen (23 and a staff associate at Young Life) met three years after a mutual friend told Nick that Elisabeth was the perfect girl for him. Not long after dating, Nick knew Elisabeth was the one and decided to propose. He knew how much Elisabeth loves her family farm so he thought it would be the perfect place to propose. He went to the farm early to set up for the proposal in the garden. That night, Elisabeth found a box with her name on it with a mug inside with the letter "A" for Allen written on it. She looked to the garden where she saw Nick waiting surrounded by romantic candles. As Nick took her hands, he got down on one knee and proposed. They decided to have their wedding five months after the proposal on that same farm, Russell Isaac's Farm in Cottageville, West Virginia. "This farm holds many cherished memories and having the wedding there wasn't even an option," Elisabeth says. The ceremony was held in the formal garden where Nick proposed while the reception was held under a large white tent on the open field. Choosing to have a black tie wedding, Elisabeth's bridesmaids wore long, bush dresses while Nick's groomsmen wore formal black tuxedos. "The theme of the wedding could be described as vintage glamour with a hint of rustic," Elisabeth says. Lights hung overhead under the tented reception creating a romantic, glamorous look. Centerpieces were arrangements of white and pale pink peonies with mercury glass vases. Many framed chalkboard signs were displayed throughout the reception adding DIY elements. Elisabeth and Nick created a simple, yet elegant wedding in a beloved farm setting.
