A Simple DIY Wedding at Lambertville Station Inn in Lambertville, New Jersey

Cristina Zozzaro (27 and a property manager) and Greg Townsend (30 and a policy adviser) used a soft, neutral color palette for their natural DIY wedding. The couple made everything themselves: the floral arrangements, the water colored table numbers, the gold cake topper. “It was really important to me to feel like I was actually planning my own wedding and not just picking a pretty picture out of a magazine," Cristina says. "It was also an opportunity for me to make memories with the people I care about the most and for all of us to spend some time together. It was definitely stressful at times, and a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. When I look back on my wedding day, I don’t just see all the pretty decor, I see the story that made it pretty and that sentiment is what made our wedding so special.” Wanting a venue that spoke for itself (so the decor could be kept to a minimum), Cristina and Greg chose Lambertville Station Inn in Lambertville, New Jersey. “We wanted our wedding to be sentimental, so it was really important to us to have it in a town that already held a special place in our lives,” Cristina says. “Lambertville, New Jersey, was an obvious choice, since we practically consider it home. Unfortunately, many venues in Lambertville appealed to more intimate weddings and, well, Greg and I both have very large families. Finding a venue was difficult, until the inn announced they would be renovating their ballroom to accommodate 200 people. Suddenly, not only were all our problems were solved, but all our dreams had come true. I mean, who wouldn't want to have their reception in a glass ballroom overlooking the Delaware River? The venue's facade looked very modern, and there were interior features that were modern as well, but the wooden beams and ceiling helped balance the trendy features. The ceiling-to-floor windows overlooking a breathless landscape would appeal to anyone's style.” Our favorite part, though, was Cristina’s gorgeous A-line wedding dress. “My gown was perfect. The bodice was made of the most delicate lace, making it feminine; the skirt was made of the lightest silk, making it comfortable; the pleats gave the gown just enough character, making it original; and the belt gave the gown just enough bling, making it elegant,” Cristina says. “It encompassed everything I wanted my wedding to represent.” But because she wanted a more sophisticated, modest look for her traditional Christian ceremony, she and her mother designed lace sleeves for her to wear in the church.
