A Simple, Classic Wedding at The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor, New Jersey

Jennifer Knapp Finnerty (31 and a branch manager) and Thomas Finnerty (33 and a business owner) were introduced at a Christmas parade in Pennsylvania and knew instantly there was a connection between them. Despite this immediate attraction, neither one expressed interest in the other until a month later, when they ran into each other at a local bar. After that night, Jen and Tom began dating and have been together ever since. On the Thursday before Labor Day Weekend, Jen and Tom were getting ready to spend the weekend at the Jersey Shore. When Jen got home from work, she saw that Tom had cleaned the house and had already packed the car for their trip. He then told her that he wanted to give her an early birthday present. Jen unwrapped the package to find a shoebox, but when she opened it, she discovered a box with a ring inside. At that moment, Tom got down on one knee and proposed. The couple chose The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, for their wedding on the beach, something they say they'd always wanted. Even though their big day took place in late March, the weather that weekend was beautiful, and guests were able to enjoy the outdoor patio overlooking the water. Jen and Tom had a simple, timeless look to their wedding. "I guess you could describe our style as modern classic," Jen says. Lanterns, candlelight and rose petals decorated the ceremony and reception, keeping with the timeless look. For a pop of color, though, Jen carried a bright pink and white bouquet of peonies, garden roses and calla lilies.
