A Simple Classic Wedding at the Ramada Topeka Downtown Hotel and Convention Center in Topeka, Kansas
Melanie, 28, a radiologic technologist, and Drew, 30, works in construction, met through mutual friends. “I would say our theme was very classic,” Melanie says. “We wanted to keep it simple and keep with tradition. We wanted to look back and not see trendy, but see timeless.” They chose mint for their main color because it reminded Melanie of her grandmother, since her grandmother’s kitchen cabinets were that color when Melanie was a child. They added gray, navy and coral to their color palette for an extra pop against the mint. Keeping family close on their wedding day was important to the couple, so Drew proposed with Melanie’s grandmother’s heirloom ring. Melanie also wrapped her bouquet in her late father’s old navy tie and a picture of him, so he could be with her down the aisle. The couple exchanged vows at the Countryside United Methodist Church and followed with a reception at the Ramada Topeka Downtown Hotel and Convention Center. They used simple details for a classic, clean feel. “Throughout our wedding day it was important for us to include personal touches and make it our own,” Melanie says. “Not everything that day has to be perfection, to be perfection.”
