A Simple, Classic Wedding at the Chicago History Museum in Chicago, Illinois
David Curosh (31 and an accountant) and Maureen Howard (30 and a graphic designer) met while out in Old Town, a neighborhood in Chicago, IL. Maureen approached David and bluntly asked if he was single. David told Maureen that he was single and their romance blossomed from there. Two years later, David proposed to Maureen at their favorite restaurant in Chicago and later surprised her again with an engagement party later that night. They decided to have their ceremony at St. John the Baptist Church and their reception at the Chicago History Museum. "The space didn't need extra decor," Maureen says. "It is set in a classical architectural style with white columns, Tiffany stained glass windows, a black and white checkerboard floor and breathtaking views of the city and lake near by." They decided their color palette of gold, white, pink and navy right away. Maureen knew she wanted the wedding to be "classic-meets-modern." Centerpieces of white anemones and pink peonies sat on top of tables draped with navy tablecloth. Maureen and her mother, Gayle Howard, created the favors for the guests. Gayle spray painted pots gold and planted a succulent in each one while Maureen created gold and navy name tags for them. Being a graphic designer, Maureen knew exactly what she wanted her wedding day to be and, with the timeless, simple decor, it was just as she imagined.
