Julie Hietter (24 and a registered nurse) and Edward Wiegers (25 and a software engineer) met through mutual friends in college. Edward proposed in Chicago in front of the bean at Millennium Park. “I was so surprised when it happened that I could barely get out yes,” Julie says. Loving the beautiful grounds and wooden ceilings, the couple exchanged vows at Tapawingo National Golf Club in Sunset Hills, Missouri. They used navy, white and blush for a chic color palette and added pops of silver for a little metallic flair. The only deviation from the color scheme was Julie’s Wizard of Oz-inspired sparkly red peep-toe heels from Etsy. After the ceremony, they had cocktail hour with St. Louis-style toasted raviolis for an ultra-local snack. The reception tables were decorated with simple blush and ivory centerpieces and navy and white-striped table linens, which were made by Julie’s mother. The three-tier textured buttercream cake from Slice of Heaven topped off their perfect night.

Princess-Cut Diamond with Halo Engagement Ring
“My shoes were actually the first thing I bought,” Julie says. “I have loved The Wizard of Oz from the time I was little bitty so I immediately knew ruby red slippers were what I would wear.”
Julie carried pink peonies for her bouquet. The stems were wrapped with an ivory satin ribbon and Julie’s grandmother’s bracelet, which was her something borrowed.
The bridesmaids wore navy Kennedy Blue dresses with different necklines for a little personalization.
The groomsmen wore three-piece gray J. Ferrar suits from JC Penny.
Simple, Casual Ring Bearers and Flower Girl
“The two things we loved the most were the fact that there were two full walls of floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the golf course (and sunset) and the beautiful wood ceiling,” Julie says.

“We fell in love with our venue immediately when touring it,” Julie says. “The golf course grounds were beautiful and the room for the ceremony and reception was so simple but gorgeous.”
Pink Peony Centerpieces and Nautical Table Runners
The centerpieces included white hydrangeas, pink roses and baby’s breath, which sat on a silver platter for a pop of metallic.
The reception tables were decorated with navy and white striped linens, which were made by the bride’s mother since they couldn’t find them to rent.
Julie and Edward served wedding cake, mini cheese cakes, cookies and chocolates for dessert.
