A Simple City Club Wedding at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, California
Miko Morita (37, an interior landscaper) and Jason Vaughn (43, a sales of nutritional supplements) connected with each other online and had their first date at a restaurant called La Cave. The first few hours were spent getting to know each other and by the end of the night, they realized they had an incredible amount in common. A few months later they went out for Valentines Day, when they decided to make their relationship official. Over the next four years, the couple started creating their lives together with a cat named Lulu in their Huntington Beach home. Jason first proposed to Miko with her grandmother’s ring when he took her hiking in Newport Coast, the area where they had first met. However, Jason wanted to propose to her again when Miko and Jason designed her real engagement ring with Miko’s grandmother’s diamond in a new setting. While they were on vacation in Maui, Hawaii, the couple drove to the top of Haleakala volcano to watch the sunrise. “The second proposal happened in the very early hours at 10,000 feet with this incredible sunrise over the mountain ranges and the vast pacific ocean just below,” recalls Jason. The couple had their wedding at the Pacific Club, a traditional outdoor wedding venue with a beautiful lake surrounded by natural plants on its landscape. It was the perfect place for their rustic, vintage wedding occasion. The color palette was hues of coral, magenta, green, pink and orange to compliment the fall season. The space was decorated with a variety of succulents, since Miko’s was so familiar with the plant due to her profession. They also hung Japanese paper cranes around the trees and on the arch at the ceremony, in addition to the mini paper cranes included in the reception centerpieces.
