A Simple Beach Wedding at Guy Harvey Outpost Islander Resort in Islamorada, Florida

High School sweethearts Marydelsi Cortes (28 and in insurance) and Luis Cortes (27 and a firefighter) became engaged on a camping trip in the Florida Keys. The couple was watching the sunset on a small island when Luis put on their song, dropped to one knee and popped the question with a round-cut diamond ring. “He recorded the whole thing on his GoPro,” says Marydelsi. “It was the most amazing thing ever - a moment I will never forgot.” With dreams of a beach wedding, they planned a simple blue, purple and white celebration at Guy Harvey Outpost Islander Resort in just 11 months. “I wanted the colors to pop in everything,” says Marydelsi. Marydelsi and Luis had a simple outdoor ceremony lined with white folding chairs, silver lanterns and pink and white flower petals. The couple exchanged vows and had a knot tying tradition before taking a few steps over to their reception. The resort’s deck was accented with eggplant linen-covered round tables, white folding chairs, personal photo table numbers and low pink rose centerpieces alongside floating purple and pink tulips. All enjoyed a buffet dinner of chicken, beef or fish before they were treated to a piece of wedding cake in a custom box that read “take your mid-night sank.” After Marydelsi and Luis had a fun sparkler exit, the couple and their 130 guests continued the celebration at their hotel’s bar and pool. “We wanted to be relaxed and have a great time with our guests,” says Marydelsi.
