A Simple and Elegant Wedding at Veritas Vineyard and Winery in Afton, Virginia
Because their wedding venue, Veritas Vineyard and Winery, was so breathtaking, Casey Catron (29 and a visual manager at Anthropologie) and Ryan Ulrich (31 and a financial advisor at Charles Schwab) let nature speak for itself and kept the decorations to a minimum. As a result, one of the most eye-catching details of the day were the flowers. "We were interested in organic-style flower arrangements that had an element of asymmetry and felt whimsical in nature and composition," Casey says. She carried a pretty bridal bouquet made up of dinner plate dahlias, ranunculus, hops and wildflowers. At the tented reception, more of the same floral style showed up in the pastel and leafy green centerpieces and on the cake. The rest of the reception decor was simple, with brown chiavari chairs alongside dining tables covered in crisp white linens and gold dinnerware. Casey and Ryan’s planners at Ashlee Virginia Events helped them pull off all the details. One of our favorite highlights from the day was the Southern tradition of burying the bourbon. A month earlier, the couple had buried a bottle of bourbon at the vineyard. During cocktail hour, Casey and Ryan dug up the bottle so that they could share it with their guests and drink to their good luck and good weather. Not even Casey’s amazing Hayley Paige wedding dress could stop her from getting in the mud with a shovel to dig up the bottle! “It was the most exciting part of our cocktail hour,” she says.
