A Shabby-Chic Wedding at Whitehurst Lake House in Washington, North Carolina

Kerri Briley (22 and a ultrasonographer) and Mark Scott (25 and a farmer) had a navy and coral color palette for their shabby-chic wedding. To personalization their day, they made most of the details themselves, including all the floral arrangements, the vintage window decor and even the double-door entrance. “My dad and I had restored two very old doors that used to be part of our church a very long time ago,” Kerri says. “We spent hours sanding them down, painting them, distressing them and building a frame for them. The doors, along with old church pews that used to be in our church as well, which we used for family seating, really made the tent feel more like a church.” The couple chose to have their wedding at the Whitehurst Lake House in Washington, North Carolina, because of its indoor and outdoor options (which came in handy because it did rain!) as well as the country, waterfront feel, lush fields and huge lake. Bob Mackowski from Open Aperture Photography beautifully captured all the details of the day. One of our favorite parts was Kerri’s stunning lace sheath wedding dress. “My wedding dress was a fitted lace gown covered in beads and pearls,” Kerri says. “It had small cap sleeves with a deep V-cut back and covered buttons down the back. I wore a veil that was trimmed in matching beads and pearls. I know I am biased, but it really was one of the prettiest gowns I have ever seen!”
