A Shabby Chic Wedding at the Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook, Connecticut

Despite some less than ideal first impressions (“I found him pompous and arrogant. He found me loud and obnoxious,” says Jillian.), Jillian Quintero (31 and a stay-at-home mom) and Scott DelVecchio (31 and a firefighter) quickly realized during an unexpected second meeting that they actually had a lot on common. They exchanged phone numbers and two weeks later, Scott called and the two have been together ever since. After almost 10 years together and their first child, Scott popped the question one night as the couple strolled along Boston Harbor. When it came to planning their wedding, the couple knew exactly where they wanted to exchange vows. “We attended a good friend’s wedding at Saybrook Point Inn in Old Saybrook, CT a few years ago and it was incredible,” says Jillian. “The location was gorgeous. The food was fantastic. And the rooms were amazing. We told ourselves that if we ever decided to get married, it would be there.” The couple went with a shabby chic style with subtle romantic undertone for the day, choosing a classic, feminine color palette of blush, ivory and brown. Mason jars, lace and burlap accents were key elements in bringing the couple’s rustic, vintage-inspired vision to life. Traditional blooms like lilies, roses and baby’s breath kept things feeling classic and feminine. Jillian and Scott made several of the wedding’s details themselves, like the framed signs, Mason jar sippers and customized labels to give the day a personal touch.
