A Shabby Chic Wedding at Rainbow Ranch Lodge in Gallatin Gateway, Montana
Kate Christiaanse (35 and a VP of partner strategy at Liftopia.com) and John Fenwick (37 and a manager of flight ops for Google satellite) met at a ski resort in Tahoe, California. John proposed in Jackson Hole just off a ski slope where he built a snow cave covered in rose petals and votive candles on the inside. “I crawled in and saw the candles, the rose petals and a bottle of champagne and two glasses,” Kate says. “I turned around and John has kneeling behind me with the ring in his hand. He said I was the love of his life, his best friend, his partner and would I marry him. I said, ‘Yes, yes, of course!’” The couple exchanged vows on the lawn outside at Rainbow Ranch Lodge. Kate’s friend from college officiated the wedding, which was really meaningful to the couple. Afterwards, they had cocktail hour on the neighboring lawn and their reception in the historic barn with a tented extension. They decorated with rustic, but elegant, details such as lantern chandeliers, wooden table numbers and colorful floral arrangements. Instead of a traditional guest book, Kate and John had a polaroid camera so people could take photos of themselves and include it with a message to the newlyweds. At the end of the night, the couple served pies from the onsite pastry chef and dancing to an eight-piece band called Tiny Band.
