A Shabby Chic Wedding at Dennis Vineyards in Albemarie, North Carolina
Morgan Pesso (23 and a therapist) and John Olson (24 and an IT engineer) met at a mixer between her sorority and his fraternity during college and saw something in each other immediately. They went on their first date the next night and have been together ever since. On a New Year's trip to Asheville, NC, John took Morgan to the Biltmore Estate and popped the question on the bridge overlooking the grounds as the sun began to set. As the they took in the view, John asked Morgan to set up her phone to take a picture with the self-timer. Morgan gave John 15 seconds to get in place and he began counting down outloud. Morgan thought he was acting a little strange, but still stood there and smiled until John said "one second" and got down on one knee, just as the camera took the photo, capturing the special moment. For their wedding, the couple chose to host the event at Dennis Vineyards just outside of Charlotte, NC. The venue offered both outdoor and indoor options for the ceremony and reception, which was important for the couple who wanted a back-up plan in case of inclement weather. A shabby chic style was selected for the wedding's theme, working seamlessly with the vineyard's natural setting. They chose a color palette of navy, mint, gold and pink and incorporated diy touches throughout the day (mostly made by Morgan's mother), including all of the floral arrangements, painted mason jars and signage. To go along with the day's laid-back vibe, Morgan and John hosted their nuptials early in the day and followed their ceremony with a brunch reception.
