A Sentimental Outdoor Wedding at the Daniel Island Club on Daniel Island, South Carolina
It seemed only fitting that Erin Smigocki (32 and a commercial real estate property manager) and Martin Hanhauser (37 and a wealth manager) would be married where they first met on Daniel Island. The pair incorporated authentic South Carolina touches, including having the fathers of the bride and groom as well as Martin himself sport Brackish Bowties made locally out of real animal feathers. Erin arranged for the ceremony to take place on the club’s manicured croquet lawn as a sentimental tribute to her late grandfather. Growing up as a young child, he would always organize family games of croquet in the summer for his grandchildren. It seemed the perfect setting to say their vows so that he could attend in spirit. Truly a family affair, Erin’s mother constructed the altar and her father, who is in the printing business took care of all of the invitations. (How handy!) The couple displayed photos of of their family member’s past wedding days at the reception and several Eiffel tower touches were added to reference Martin’s extravagant proposal to Erin in Paris. The lovely personal touches Erin and Matt went to the trouble to include made it a unique affair.
