A Rustic Yellow Wedding at The Farm- A Gathering Place in Candler, North Carolina

Stefanie Knapp (29 and a registered nurse) and Richard Yoon (34 and a vascular surgeon) worked in the same hospital during Richard's surgery residency. They didn't begin talking until Stefanie was taking care of one of Richard's patient, and when his questions slowly shifted from patient care to getting to know her, Stefanie couldn't stop grinning. Richard surprised Stefanie with a proposal four years later during a trip to Hawaii after a day of hiking. "We had returned to our room to get ready for dinner and I had a habit of always asking Richard to hold onto a family ring while I showered so I wouldn't lose it," says Stefanie. "After my shower, I asked him for my ring back but instead of giving me my usual ring, he gave me an engagement ring!" Finding the perfect location was at the top of Stefanie and Richard's list and they mmediately knew they found their venue when they toured The Farm- A Gathering Place in Candler, North Carolina. The couple exchanged vows during a sunny April day under a wooden gazebo with mountain views followed by a rustic indoor reception. Stefanie and Richard didn't want their wedding colors to be too gender specific or flashy, so they decided on gray with yellow accents. "Our florist, Flora, did a stunning job of incorporating our colors into the bouquets and table arrangements," says Stefanie. "We also worked with succulents throughout the boutonnieres, bouquets, centerpieces and even our favors." A soft lace pattern, inspired by the bride's Anna Campbell wedding gown, topped the cheery yellow fondant cake and tied their celebration together.    Photography by Suzie Guerrant of Jen Yuson PhotographyFrom the bride: Richard and I met in Spartanburg, SC in 2009 at the hospital where I was working in the ICU and he was working on his surgery residency. I frequently saw him around the hospital but he never spoke to me until I had to take care of his patient. Those of you who really know Richard, know that he is not a talker. When his questions shifted from patient care to questions about me, I was grinning from ear to ear. We've been together ever since. Richard and I recently moved to the lovely town of Johnson City, TN. Although I miss Spartanburg, we have thoroughly enjoyed our new life here. After spending the last two years 600+ miles apart, we couldn't be happier to start this new life chapter. Richard proposed to me in Hawaii on June 22, 2013. I have a beautiful old family ring that I wore everyday and I was always scared I'd loose it when we traveled places and I took it off, so whenever we were away from home I would ask him to hold it for me while I took a shower. He wore that ring for me so many times throughout the years. After I got out of the shower on that day in June with the towel still wrapped around my head and my pajamas on, I asked for my ring back. Instead of handing me the old ring, he handed me a beautiful new engagement ring. I was speechless. It was perfect. I love all things lace. I had my eye on Australian designer, Anna Campbell, for a while and I knew I wouldn't bernsatisfied until I tried one of her gowns on. I ended up falling in love with her 'Isobelle' dress. It's so different fromrnany other dress I have seen and it's made of the most beautiful ivory lace. I paired the dress with AnnarnCampbell's 'Charlotte' headpiece, which I had sewn on as a belt, and I wore the 'Charlotte' comb in my hair.rnrnIt's so hard to pick just one favorite part of the wedding day. Each part was so special to us. Richard and I chosernto take 'first look' pictures before the ceremony, and I'm so glad we did. It was the first moment we had tornourselves that day. It was perfect. The ceremony was beautiful and I tried to make every effort to soak eachrnsecond in because it goes by so fast.
