A Rustic Yellow Wedding at Stony Point Hall in Baldwin City, Kansas
Sandi Lam (22 and an architect) and Cameron Harder (22 and a mechanical design engineer) met at Kansas State University. Sandi was finishing a week-long trip in Zurich, Switzerland, with her architecture studio while Cam was supposedly in Kansas. On her free Saturday in town, she decided to go with her friends to see Grossmunster, a beautiful church. “As I made my way up through the narrow staircases to the top of one of the two towers, I was excitedly anticipating the view on the observation deck,” Sandi says. “I was the last of the group to arrive at the top. My friends urged me to go out onto one of the decks. Without much thought, I went. Stepping into the lightly drizzling outdoor deck, I was surprised to see someone who looked like Cam. It was Cam! I was in shock and kept repeating, ‘No! No! No!’ because I simply could not comprehend what was taking place. I knew the proposal would be soon, but since we had discussed saving money for our upcoming marriage, I never considered that Cam would make such an extravagant gesture. When he got down on one knee and proposed, I felt the luckiest.” The couple loved the beautifully rustic feel of Stony Point Hall in Baldwin, Kansas. They exchanged vows in between rolling hills on the outdoor lawn before heading into the barn for the reception. They used white and yellow and their main colors and added subtle touches of purple throughout. The couple placed a bottle of cupcake moscato on each reception table and served BBQ, cheesy potatoes, green beans and rolls for dinner. The Dreamery Baker made their delicious three-tier cake topped with fresh yellow and white flowers. At the end of the night, the couple exited through sparklers flaring under the night sky.
