A Rustic Winter Wedding at King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Virginia
Krista Edelman (29 and a physician) and Carter Cowardin (31 and a health-care administrator) always knew they wanted a winter wedding. "In the summer, weekends are busy with weddings, graduations and fun family trips, but I knew in the winter our guests would be less likely to have as many other weddings and events, which would make our event feel more special." Krista says. To highlight the winter theme, she and Carter chose a color palette of ivory, gold and green. The bridesmaids wore ivory lace dresses with ivory stoles and carried bouquets of ivory roses and magnolia leaves. Krista carried a similarly wintry bouquet with ivory roses, thistles and dusty miller. The mantle of the flagstone fireplace where she and Carter were married was decorated with garlands of greenery and ivory flowers, and dining tables at the reception were covered in white linens and gold napkins with centerpieces made up of green boxwood wreaths and gold candles. Krista and Carter's venue was the perfect backdrop for their rustic winter wedding: King Family Vineyards, a winery in the Charlottesville, Virginia, area, boasts stunning views of the surrounding mountains, making for an amazing photo-op. And the indoor hall, where the reception took place, is beautifully finished with warm, rustic accents like hardwood floors, barn doors, wine-barrel accents and pretty light fixtures. Ste. Marie Showers helped plan the day, and Shandi Wallace Photography was there to capture all the details.
