A Rustic Winter Wedding at Chrisman Manor in Oskaloosa, Kansas
Sarah Stuever (22 and a student) and Jack Lindley (23 and a Young Life Staff Associate) met while interning together at a Young Life camp and began dating at the end of the summer. Jack proposed at the top of a mountain where the couple had watched the sunrise together on their last day of camp. Wanting a location that could be used for both the ceremony and reception, the couple chose to have their wedding at Christman Manor, which provided a simple backdrop of white-paneled walls in a renovated tin barn. The rustic wedding incorporated lace, old wooden ladders and distressed wooden boxes filled with miscellaneous glass bottles, mason jars and wildflowers. The color palette of dusty blue, cranberry and gray was reflected in the flowers and decor, most notably in Sarah’s bouquet of dahlias, thistles and dusty miller. During the wedding ceremony, the Sarah and Jack chose to serve communion to all of their guests, which provided them the opportunity to interact with each and every guest as well as acknowledge the communal role of support they each will play in the marriage.
