Nearly 10 years after they met at a concert (the groom was the drummer), childhood sweethearts Kelly Musgraves (24 and a photographer and filmmaker) and Canaan Sutton (25 and an environmental science and biology student at Texas A&M University-Commerce) returned to rural East Texas for their wedding. Set against the backdrop of Kelly's idyllic hometown, the couple crafted a charming affair that was truly their own -- with not a planner in sight. Without a set color scheme or theme, Kelly and Canaan let their day's aesthetic evolve organically. And boy did they nail it! The result was a fun, old-world-inspired vibe brought to life by earthy green and brown hues and glittery pops of gold. Finally, whimsical woodland illustrations and quirky blooms lent a lighthearted touch to their rustic nuptials, which even included a performance from Kelly's sister, country star Kacey Musgraves!

The front of Kelly and Canaan's custom gatefold invitation had the event information along with whimsical watercolor illustrations of local wildlife, while the back included a hand-painted map of Golden.

"The ceremony site -- the little pink house where I was raised -- was one of the day's most special details," Kelly says. It was painted light pink in memory of her memaw, who passed away less than a year earlier. "I felt so happy knowing she was right there with us," she says.

The bride opted for a vintage-inspired Mike Benet wedding dress that she found at Gratitude Vintage in Dallas.

The couple enlisted four of their friends' daughters to serve not as flower girls but as "confetti girls." The little ladies walked down the aisle with confetti-filled wands, wearing floral crowns and moccasins.

The newlyweds had the seats of honor beneath a banner with their new last name in a vine-draped pergola.

Wild-looking bunches of dahlias, marigolds, zinnias, asclepias, roses and local cacti made for totally Texan bunches.
A garland of gold tinsel added some flavor to the simple wood bar. The couple offered two kinds of beer in addition to wine, champagne and mixers.
