A Rustic Wedding at the Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Illinois
"We met at Valparaiso University in 2006, but didn't start dating for another year after that," Jenny (26 and in communications) says of her relationship with Eric (26 and in broadcasting). Although the couple always knew they'd wed, that didn't mean the proposal didn't have to be a complete surprise. "We were celebrating our four-year anniversary and a friend decorated our apartment with candles and rose petals," Jenny says. "Eric even used elements of his grandfather's proposal to his grandmother to add a family touch. There was a small wishing well that, when the bucket was brought up, contained the engagement ring set to music. The piece was handmade by his grandfather himself." For their rustic, yellow and gray wedding, the couple wed in a traditional ceremony at Jenny's childhood church in Arlington Heights before moving the celebration to the Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington. "The reception was in the clubhouse of a huge, rustic golf course since we targeted that theme from the beginning of our planning," the bride says. "We had family photos hanging everywhere and each table was numbered with a different Milwaukee-Based craft beer, since it's our favorite." Guests dined on chicken and sirloin along with a Chicago White Sox-themed groom's cake before receiving a surprise visit from an unexpected visitor. "Since we're both huge fans of the White Sox, the team's mascot, Southpaw, made a special appearance and even danced with a few guests!" the bride says.
