A Rustic Wedding at The Homestead Barn at Dover Bay Resort in Dover, Idaho

Chelsea and Alberto Pimienta live in Washington, DC, but they traveled to the bride's hometown of Sandpoint, Idaho, for a rustic wedding. "Our venue was a beautiful old barn nestled between the mountains and Lake Pend Oreille," Chelsea says. "There is a magic about it that I wanted to share with our closest friends and family." She describes her wedding theme as "bohemian barn-chic," with a color palette of navy, gold and blush accented with peach and green. The maid-of-honor's dad (who was also Chelsea's childhood pastor) officiated the ceremony, which included personal touches like a sand-mixing ritual. The couple stood underneath a hexagonal wooden wedding arch that mimicked the shape of Chelsea's engagement ring. Guests referred to a newspaper-inspired program—since the couple met at journalism school—designed by the bride and a bridesmaid. In fact, Chelsea designed many elements of the wedding, including place cards, menus, napkins, the cake topper and the invitation suite. "My husband and his family are from Venezuela, so we also wanted to tie in his culture," Chelsea adds. "The appetizers during the cocktail hour were traditional arepas and tequenos. I surprised Alberto by saying my vows in Spanish and we mixed two songs together for our first dance: "September" by Taylor Swift, which is the song we got engaged to, and his favorite song in Spanish." For the reception, guests sat at wooden farm tables decorated with eucalyptus garland, blush gauze runners and vintage drinking goblets. They also took photographs in a vintage Volkswagen bus converted into a photo booth. The night ended with a two-tiered semi-naked wedding cake and a balloon send-off outside the twinkling, rustic barn.
